Marcus Aurelius is credited with the following quote:
Live a good life. If there are gods and they are just, then they will not care how devout you have been, but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by. If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them. If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved ones. I am not afraid.
A very interesting thought. It makes me wonder whether or not being confused and trying to figure out religion really is that important. I honestly don’t believe I’ll be letting anyone down by not figuring out what really is right to me, only that by not living a good I could let down everyone, including myself.
I really like things that Marcus Aurelius had to say. Maybe he had too much time on his hands living the good life of a Roman Emperor. I think that’s what draws me to some of the things he said. I’d like to be able to do what he did. I’d like to spend more time inside of myself figuring things out. I just don’t think there’s enough inside of me to make any rational conclusions about everything.
I have some very argumentative friends. Very opinionated. There is so much to be opinionated about. I play devil’s advocate with them a lot. I like to hear people defend their positions. I sometimes feel lacking when talking to people about a specific topic I am not an expert on. Heck, I’m no expert in anything. I don’t really know where I am going with this post, other than I wanted to post, and this is what I’ve chosen to write about.
I should read more. What the heck? I’ve been saying that for years. Boo Derek for not reading more.

Mission Accomplished!
he did say that beautifully, and in Latin too, which I can kinda read... teehee. And I love being opinionated
